West Woods Christian Academy is a private Christian School, founded in 1975, serving students from kindergarten through the twelfth grade. Nine week quarters are the pattern for the school year. Criteria for enrollment fall in two areas: grade readiness and religious conviction. Entrance and placement exams are given to students enrolling, and parent(s) need to have an Evangelical Christian worldview. W.W.C.A. is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), and meets standards for approval by the Connecticut State Board of Education.

School Calendar: Aligned closely with Hamden Public Schools in Hamden, CT

School Day: Six class periods, study hall, and Devotions/Prayer/Chapel. Classes are 47 minutes.

Semester system: One credit per year is awarded for each five day per week class.

Hamden, Connecticut is a large suburban town of 70,000 people located just north of New Haven. Its residents represent a wide range of socio-economic status. Students come to West Woods Christian Academy from New Haven County representing ~60 different evangelical churches.


WWCA offers a highly regarded and comprehensive program for grades kindergarten through twelfth grade. The secondary curriculum has a strong preparation for those desiring to continue on in college. Due to a small teacher/student ratio, students get the individual attention and encouragement that help them to excel.

Standardized Testing

In the spring of each year a standardized achievement test is administered to grades 1-11. West Woods students, on the average, score higher grade level equivalents than national total test averages and ACSI averages at every level.
