Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.    Proverbs 16:24

Do you live, work, go to church, or “park your brain” in an environment of encouragement or criticism?  In what way do you contribute to that environment? Are you known as an encourager or a whiner? A  positive influence or a painful injector?

Mary Poppins has a song with a line that says “A spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down.” In regular every day life we need to contribute sweetness to each other. The challenges of each day require a choice of mental attitude that will strengthen us for the task. Make it a point of action to contribute encouragement to your environment and not criticism.  Before you speak of a leader in your church, a teacher in your school, a member of your family, a leader in your community…. walk a mile in their shoes. It is amazing how hard their jobs seem when you actually put yourself in their spot. Be an encourager in your home, church, school, and community. It will be much more pleasant to be around us.

The daily morning devotion at West Woods Christian Academy has greatly challenged both teachers and students over the years. The Book of Proverbs is a frequent landing place for practical guidance in living out Christian principles.
