In today’s high school devotion @ West Woods Christian Academy, we discussed
Proverbs 20:9. “Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?”
The honest answer to this question is…… NOBODY. There is a clear statement in Romans 3:23, “All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God. In God’s economy we ALL come short of His righteousness and are bankrupt. There is a huge gap between God’s requirements for righteousness and our ability to reach it. EXACTLY why God sent his only SON, Jesus, to fill that gap. Through the finished work of Jesus, and our trust in Him, God looks through the lens of Christ’s sacrificial death when he views us.
None of us have made our own hearts clean. That is God’s job. In daily practice we are to live out this truth in the choices we make to honor Him or dishonor Him. Live your life as a love letter back to the one who made you clean. Prove it.
