In today’s daily Proverb we looked at Proverbs 29:20 which reads, “Do you see a man hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.”

We all have spoken too quickly at times. Usually we speak too quickly when we may not know the whole story, or when we share an opinion that has not been tempered with grace. In our modern, fast paced, social media saturated society, we can also speak, type, text, or snap chat so quickly without thinking who it may hurt, or how it comes across. A recent commentary by a medical professional about social media, can apply to the spoken and typed word.  Think before we speak/type.

  1. Is it true ?
  2. Is it kind ?
  3. Is it necessary ?

We appear quite foolish when we join in on comments, opinions, social media posts, tweets, etc without thinking about all three of the items above.  James 1:19 encourages us by stating, “Therefore my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, (type:post:tweet), slow to wrath.”
